Her sire (Lisaye Raffles) has been the holder of the breed's Leading Stud Dog Trophy for the past two years while her dam (Elkay Megan) has held the Leading Brood Bitch Trophy for the same period. Her breeding is identical to that of Champion Edenwell Elkay Mali and Champion Gleghornie Elkay Miri. In her brief show career Meryl has already been awarded 5 Challenge Certificates being on each occasion Best of Breed. Among these awards was that of Best of Breed at Cruft's 1957 under Mr. Leo Wilson. Meryl is a holder of a Junior Warrant and has won extensively in breed and variety classes.
